Our democracy is built on debate, Congresswoman! I should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress or serve on committee. The people of the 5th elected me to serve their interest. I am sure we agree on that!

    Lawmakers must be able to debate w/o prejudice or bigotry. I am saddened that Rep. Omar continues to mischaracterize support for Israel. I urge her to retract this statement and engage in further dialogue with the Jewish community on why these comments are so hurtful.

    I am told everyday that I am anti-American if I am not pro-Israel. I find that to be problematic and I am not alone. I just happen to be willing to speak up on it and open myself to attacks.

      Not just 💰. Also FEAR. Exactly bc of the blowback that gets stirred up as w when the subject of US/Israel sees the light. This shutdown is what must be fought, & not just w support, but by stubbornly rolling out those FACTS.

      As an American Jew I completely agree & I can and do support your right to question and oppose Bibi & the occupation. It doesn’t make anyone anti-Semitic or anti-American quite to the contrary.

      As a jew, and wasn't aware of any anti-jewish tropes that could be gleaned from her comments. I have zero problem with the Congresswoman asking valid questions that relate to policy; it's her job. BTW, the Palestinians have every right to exist as a state.

      I agree with you Rep. Ilhan. I have been to Israel and the Mid-East when I was very young (18). I too found a disturbing amount of bigotry towards the Palestinians. I certainly do not blame the Jewish people for that but I do blame it on the Israeli government and Benjamin N.
